Southwest Road Trip (Part Two)

This is Part Two of Daniel's and my Southwest Road Trip! If you missed Part One, you can click here to check it out.

Getting my Titanic on at Mesa Verde! Hold me, Jack!

Daniel and I at Mesa Verde! The archaeologist in me loved this stop on our trip. We climbed crazy 30 ft ladders, crawled through tunnels, and got to explore all over the archaeological sites. It was definitely a unique opportunity to get up close to these ancient ruins, and I would recommend it to anyone venturing to the Southwest!

"Look Ma! We're about to go spelunking!"

Daniel mid-cave crawl

Too much testosterone in this picture to handle!

Reinventing the Fireside Chat

Daniel pancaking on four states at once!

High five in four different states at the same time!

The Navigator

Cheesin' at Petrified Forest! We arrived there just before sunset and purchased a drive-along CD tour at the main entrance gift shop (narrated by the ever-enthusiastic "Blake"). We had a lot of fun driving through the park at sunset, and stopping along the way whenever a location sounded particularly interesting from the CD. Oh yeah, and the entire park was insanely gorgeous!

Walking off into the sunset

Touching the petrified wood butt!

We ghosted the car...and it was awesome.

At the historic Route 66 stop in Winslow, AZ

 Meteor Crater! Boom?

Sunset Crater Volcano

The grandest of all the canyons!

We hiked the 12 mile roundtrip hike to Plateau Point at the bottom of the Grand Canyon! Booyah!

Southwest Road Trip (Part One)

Last week, Daniel and I returned home from our 11 day road trip of the Southwest! We had been talking about doing this trip for the past year, so it was amazing to get on the road and see these breathtaking sites!

On our trip we visited Hoover Dam, Zion National Park, Bryce Canyon National Park, Capitol Reef National Park, Arches National Park, Mesa Verde National Park, 4 Corners, Monument Valley, Painted Desert National Park, Petrified Forest National Park, Route 66 in Winslow, AZ, Meteor Crater, Flagstaff, AZ, Sunset Crater Volcano, Walnut Canyon, and (finally) the Grand Canyon!

Phew! Say that itinerary three times fast!

Part One features photos from the first half of our trip. Get your creep on, and be sure to comment if you've been to any of these spots or are planning a trip of your own (I'd love to hear)!

Starting the trip off by cheesin' it in front of Hoover Dam!

Began our first day at Zion by hiking to Angels Landing rightttt there!

Just a casual conquer-your-fear-of-heights-while-rock-climbing kind of morning. But actually, it was totally worth it and I'd do it again!

We made it!

Derpin' it on the way down.

Didn't fall off the mountain! #NailedIt

Bryce Canyon aka Land of the Hoodoos!

Getting a blowout at Capitol Reef

6:30 a.m. hike to Delicate Arch to beat the tourists!

Donut hole arches on arches!

I got a little too excited about the Double O Arch...

Exploring Washington D.C.

A couple of weeks ago, my parents and I visited my younger sister at George Washington University in Washington D.C. We had a great week full of awesome eats, a bike tour of the national monuments, attending the GWU Alumni Weekend Hall and Oates concert, celebrating my parent's 23rd wedding anniversary, and visiting Great Falls, Alexandria, Annapolis, and Mount Vernon. Below are some photos from our trip to check out, and maybe even help you plan your future trip to the D.C. area.

Ally and I stopped along our monuments bike tour to snap this pic at the Jefferson Memorial
