Exploring Carmel with Dad

Yesterday, dad and I explored Carmel-by-the-Sea. Founded in 1902, Carmel is a small city in Monterey County, CA. The town boasts an eclectic mix of architecture, stunning beaches, a small, yet very upscale downtown, and homes with names such as "Periwinkle" to help tourists navigate their way in a town without mailboxes.

When my family owned a weekend vacation home at La Selva Beach, we used to visit Carmel all the time. So, my dad and I had a blast exploring all of my childhood stomping grounds. We went into my favorite toy store to take Snapchats with their life-sized bear stuffed animal, candy shops, beautiful beach overlooks, and favorite restaurant: the Hog's Breath Inn. There, we shared calamari and a chicken club with some great beer and wine.

Below are just a few photos from our awesome trek to and from Carmel.

Dad proving that the Bakos family is truly obsessed with giant, lovable corgis.

While walking in Downtown Carmel, dad told me that this hotel (Pine Inn Hotel) was where my Nuno and Papa (his parents) honeymooned. This hotel was very ritzy and romantic. Well done, Papa. ;)

Stopped by the world famous giant artichoke along highway 1. Home to the best french fried artichokes around! My family has been stopping at this restaurant for as long as I can remember, and their fried goodies never disappoint.
